Curriculum Framework

The curriculum framework is built upon the Philosophy of the College. The central concept is nurse-person engagement aimed at maximizing health. Nurse-person engagement is shaped by values, belief and knowledge. Nursing integrates empirical, ethical, aesthetic, personal, sociopolitical and cultural knowledge. Utilizing this knowledge with respect, mutuality, and collaboration with the person the nurse creates and maintains a caring environment. Three key processes are used by the nurse to achieve this goal of maximizing health. These three processes are equally important, thus they pervade the curriculum and direct nursing interventions. These processes are: promoting health, guiding persons through the health care experience, and shaping the health environment. Learn more.
